Estrella TV On Demand launches with a robust library of more than 100 movies, 30 original series, and 30 hours of children’s programming, appealing to all U.S. Hispanics. The on-demand network launched on July 14th through a mobile app and a partnership with Verizon FiOS. The app is available for free on iOS and Android devices. The digital network will offer original programming, telenovelas, movie and event replays, and programming from other networks.

What was the History and the Origin of Estella TV?
Estrella TV is a Spanish-language broadcast television network that features movies, telenovelas, sports, religious programming, news, and televangelist programs. It is owned and operated by the Estrella Media subsidiary of HPS Investment Partners, LLC. The network’s programming is primarily distributed in the United States by DirecTV, and in Canada by Bell Media-owned TSN. The network’s programming is broadcast throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and various U.S. territories. Its sister network, Estrella TV Dos, features programming aimed at the Hispanic audience.
On July 22, 2007, the Spanish-language television network Univision announced plans to purchase the assets (including talent) of Telemundo Internacional, the network’s former sister network, in an effort to boost its ratings. Telemundo Internacional had been owned by the Univision Communications subsidiary of Univision Communications, Inc., until December 2008, when Univision Communications sold the network to HPS Investment Partners, LLC.
On September 12, 2007, HPS Investment Partners announced that Univision and Telemundo would merge to form a joint venture, Univision Communications Inc. By December 5, 2007, Univision Communications announced its intention to acquire 100% of the stock of Telemundo International. On July 20, 2008, the shareholders of Telemundo International approved the Univision Communications Inc. acquisition of the network. And on January 6, 2009, Univision Communications Inc. completed its acquisition of Telemundo Internacional.
