You might be interested in knowing that, initially NFL and AFL were rivals and the Super Bowl was an attempt to merge the NFL and the rival team American Football League or AFL. The aim was to get the best game out of the best teams of both leagues. Isn’t it amazing! It has been acting as the final game of the National Football League since 1996 and it successfully replaced the NFL Championship Game. Interestingly, the game has been played on the first Sunday of February since 2004. The winning team gets to take the Vince Lombardi Trophy home.
Fact: There are restrictions on the usage of the “Super Bowl” by the NFL. so, many non-sponsoring corporations often use “big game” or any other generic term. Now you know what a “big game”.
Initially, the game was referred to as the AFL–NFL World Championship Game until the term “Super Bowl” was adopted in 1969.
Today the NFL has the highest number of spectators for any professional sports league throughout the globe. The Super Bowl is also one of the largest club sport events across the globe. Its individual games account for the most-watched television programs in American history.

Week 16 of the NFL will embark on the Thursday faceoff match of San Francisco 49ers vs Tennessee Titans. This will enter the NFL into the third last week of the league. The first match will take place at the Nissan Stadium where there will be no byes this week.
