Multimedios Television was founded by industrialist Jesus Dionisio González on February 24, 1968 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Both the company’s headquarters and the regional network’s production studios are located in Monterrey. As of June 2, 2011, Multimedios Television transmits its broadcast as Multimedios Plus to the whole Mexican Republic through the SKY communications satellite on channel 235, and since June 1, 2012, the Multimedios Plus signal will be in all transmitters in the Mexican Republic’s northeast area.
The majority of Multimedios’ Mexican stations are owned and operated by two concessionaires, Multimedios Televisión and Televisión Digital. Multimedios began expanding in earnest in the late 1980s and early 1990s, establishing a rebroadcaster in Saltillo and additional stations in northeast Mexico and León, Guanajuato, after operating alone in Monterrey for more than 20 years over XHAW-TV. With affiliate stations in the northeast, it expanded its broadcast reach even more. Multimedios also owns and runs XHSAW-TDT, a second television station in the Monterrey region.
