We understand that many people wish to install the Spectrum TV app on their Android TV or Android TV device (Nvidia shield etc). So recently we spent a couple of hours creating a custom APK shortcut for the Spectrum application. To access the guide and other features, you’ll need a mouse or gaming controller linked to your television or an Nvidia shield.

  1. The app will essentially be a tablet version of the Spectrum TV app for your television. I choose to upload all of the files required to install the Spectrum TV app on an Android TV or an Nvidia Shield.
  2. On your Android TV and phone, download the send files to TV app from the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sendfilestotv&hl=en US&gl=US 
  3. Download all of the apks to your phone, then transmit them to your TV using the Send Files TV app.
  4. On your TV, install whatever file manager you choose (for example commander).
  5. Find the choices for “install apps from unknown sources” in your Android TV settings and activate it for your file manager app and the transmit files to tv app.”
  6. Access your download folder in your file manager. Install all of the apps that you sent over (ensure you install the shortcut apk last).
  7. (Extra) To make more space on your TV, delete all of the APKs from your download folder.
  8. Then open the set orientation app and change the setting to “Automatic” before saving.
  9. The steps are Completed and you can now launch the Spectrum app.
