Follow these procedures to convert your physical SIM to an eSIM using your two iPhones:

  1. First of all, ensure that both iPhones connects to the same iCloud account.
  2. Ensure that your current iPhone is turned on and the physical SIM is inserted and that it is adjacent to your new iPhone.
  3. Tap Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan on the new iPhone.
  4. Choose the phone number associated with the physical SIM. If it doesn’t appear, you can convert the SIM to the iPhone’s EID manually.
  5. Tap Convert Cellular Plan > Convert to eSIM > OK to complete the process.

  3. For voice, texts, and data, select your default line.

You can customize your default line, which is used by iMessage and FaceTime. 

Once you call or leave a note to anyone who isn’t in your Contacts app, your iPhone will be using the default line.
